SHEDDING SOME LIGHT ON SOME SHADY PICTURES,
THE BLOGALLERY BEGINS...
Figured I'd finally give you guys a look at the actual artwork in the show. I went back this weekend to snap some shots when the gallery was empty. So here's what I'll do... Over the next few days I'll throw up a few pieces with all the info including price. If you see something you like & are interested in buying, you can contact Vashti Windish... livewithanimals@gmail.com
Sound like a plan? Most of the artwork is extremely reasonable & super affordable, so buy it!!!

I never gave you guys a look at my stuff throughout this whole thing, so I figured I'd start with that first. The three figures are titled "Smoke Break" They're digital on foamcore. Initially I wanted to do a bunch of large cutouts of "shady characters" & place them throughout the show as if they were in the crowd just kinda creeping around. That would have been way too expensive, so I opted for this instead. They are mostly meant for display, but I priced them just in case anyone was interested... They are $100.00 each & $275.00 for the set.
The first of the two framed pieces is titled "Cat Fancy" cuz what's shadier than those creepy old cat ladies?
Marker & Ink on Paper, $200.00
The second piece is titled "Tribute to Ghost Riding the Whip"
Marker & Ink on Paper, $200.00

Next we have Deanna Marsigliese & Rod Filbrandt.
Deanna contributed 5 pieces to the show, all AMAZING!
1) "Wise Guys"... Ink, Marker, Colored Pencil................ $450.00
2) "Clue"... Ink, Marker, Acrylic, Colored Pencil............ $600.00
3) "Eve's Evolution"... Ink, Marker, Colored Pencil......... $450.00
4) "The Last Don"... Ink, Marker, Colored Pencil........... $250.00
5) "Sittin' Seedy"... Ink, Marker, Colored Pencil............. $200.00
Then there's Rod Filbrandt's
"I Skip on Your Grave".... Gouache on Bristol................ $175.00
That'll do it for now, I'll try & post a few more tomorrow. Marinate on those for a bit & when you decide which one you have to add to your collection, just email Vashti!

MORE SHADY SNAPSHOTS...
A few of the artists got to come out to the opening which is always fun! I had 'em cheese out in front of their art for some priceless photo memories, awwww.

Richard "Dicko" Mather & his girlfriend Sally Donovan

The two Eric(k)'s... Erick Scarecrow & Eric Nocella. These dudes are awesome!!! Eric Nocella is the man behind the "Buzz" sculpt & also responsible for the Neptoon Studios "Crush" sculpt, which made its debut at the Shady Characters show. Erick Scarecrow & ESCTOYS also played a big role in the "Buzz" production by overseeing all of the overseas production. Thanx guys, can't wait to team up again on the Harriet sculpt!!!

This here is Eric Brown creator of "Shorties watchin' Shorties" & his lady. Seriously... one of the nicest dudes ever. I hope to get to work with this guy again soon, "Shorties" was such a blast!

Justin Winslow... A last minute entry. Justin had a strong presence at the show with these three killer pieces. nice work dude!
And here are a few more random pics...

    LIVE WITH ANIMALS
O.K. guys, so here's the big news...
I will be curating a gallery show at the "Live With Animals" gallery (210 Kent Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. 11211). I plan to have a few pieces in the show myself. Joining me are some real heavyweights in the animation/illustration community. Not just New Yorkers in this one folks... we'll be displaying artists from both coasts & even a few of my good Canadian friends will be joining in the fun! Amazing talents including... Gabe Swarr, Rex Hackelberg, Anna Chambers, Deanna Marsigliese, Clio Chiang, Steve Lambe, Mark Ackland, Todd Kauffman, Joel Trussell, Bobby Chiu, Martin Wittig, Aaron Augenblick, Phil Rynda, Peter Browngardt, Danny Kimanyen, Randy Ramos (otherwise known as Ranny), Jamie Mason, Chris George, Tim Shankweiler, Eric Brown of "Shorties watchin Shorties" fame, Mark Pecoraro, Pat Pakula, Kevin Schmid, Kaori Hamura, Richard Mather, Rod Filbrandt, my carnival bud Garnet Syberg-Olsen of course, and a few others. It promises to be a pretty amazing show!
The show is titled "Shady Characters" & will pretty much be just an explosion of incredible character design!
Shady Characters are everywhere in every city & suburb. Whether it be the nutjob on the subway, or that weirdo guy w/ the front-butt at the office, shady characters always manage to find their way in to our every day lives. "Shady Characters" is simply a tribute to all of the creepers and tweakers, outcasts and outlaws, and freaks and geeks, we encounter daily. As much as they creep us out, they equally fascinate us... but don't make eye contact... you don't want to stare! It's Live With Animals mission to bring all of these weirdos in to one room at one time & put 'em on display for your viewing pleasure. Now you can feel free to stare as long as you want! And if one of these freakazoids tickles your fancy, for the right price, you may even be able to take him/her/it home with you! Some of the artists are already offering a sneak peek at their offerings for the show on their own blogs, check 'em out if you get a chance!
Opening reception will be held on Friday July 28th.

    WHAT A TRIP!
Took the redeye in this morning back to NYC. I'm kinda still in vacation mode so I thought I'd share a few pics w/ you guys from my trip. I'll save the art posts for another day. I had a blast! Man is it beautiful out there. Makes me wonder what I'm doing in the city. Oh well, guess that's always the way with vacations... you never wanna leave. I'll definitly have to make my way back there soon. Got to do a little motocrossing up in the coastal range which was awesome!!! I gotta get me a bike, it's just too fun! Also got to do a little wake surfing (which I didn't even know was a sport until about a week ago) Super fun... longest wave I ever rode. Anyways, hope you all had a blast on the 4th!
